If you were going to a desert island and could only take one product with you, definitely choose sunscreen! It's the crucial product to take care of your skin, prevent premature aging, and prevent skin cancer.
If it's not part of your daily routine, this is your cue to incorporate it. We'll explain what you should look for when choosing your sunscreen:

1. Choose a mineral sunscreen instead of a chemical one
There are two types of sunscreens: chemical and mineral. Chemical is the most common, filtering out harmful UV rays absorbed by your skin. Minerals create a protective layer on the skin that blocks and reflects UVA and UVB rays so they can't penetrate.
Mineral sunscreens, for this reason, offer much more effective protection. You can identify them by reading the ingredients on the label, as they're formulated with zinc oxide and titanium dioxide . When you apply them, you'll feel a layer that feels like applying makeup.
It's important to know that no chemical sunscreen meets Clean Beauty standards, but many mineral sunscreens do. Clean Beauty products are free of ingredients that are proven or suspected to be harmful to your health. Unfortunately, carcinogenic effects and hormonal disruptions have been found when using ingredients like oxybenzone, which is used in most chemical sunscreens.

2. Choose a broad-spectrum sunscreen
95% of the UV rays that reach your skin are UVB rays, so it's important that your sunscreen indicates that it protects against UVB; this must be indicated on the product label.

3. Choose a sunscreen factor of at least SPF 30+
It's also important to consider your sunscreen's SPF rating (SPF). This indicates the product's UVB protection level. We recommend using an SPF of 30+ daily.
SPF 30: Protects 96.7%
SPF 50+: Protects 98%
At Blooms&Blends, we believe in creating safe and clean products that meet Clean Beauty standards and are also effective. That's how we formulated our Rosé Hydro Protect , our mineral sunscreen that creates a protective layer for your skin against UVB and UVA rays. We also added color and ingredients that help it glide and spread more easily, so it can be used as a BB cream and leaves you with a smooth, velvety texture.
